Meanwhile at the Efteling

in motion graphics

Looking for a way to connect with their audience in Corona times, YouTube came to mind. For their videos fun title screens were requested to be animated, based on the video section of the story.

Project start:
A short introduction to the task and request were laid out. They wanted a paper stop motion feel for the in-between titles, with recognisable Efteling elements.

The challenge:
The time frame given was quite short for the amount of titles and animations needed. However this didn't stop the production of clean and smooth animations.

First up:
They wanted to include the magical forest, this meant that I did researches on the trees that are located in the theme park and made different sketches of the threes, with the requested style in mind, to make te best selection of which ones to include.

Illustrating the assets:
After this small exploration of the iconic fairytale forest, the other iconic assets needed to be made, like  the mushrooms, the attraction the Python and "lang nek".

The assets were made in funky colors to see the layering clearly and then be refined in Photoshop and After Effects.

Illustrating the assets:
Within Illustrator I went on a journey to discover all the possibilities to create awesome assets with delicate details and textures.

The assets needed to match the scenes of the story board and include the essential information and visual elements.

Let the magic begin and

set everything into motion

Within After Effect the big challenge was that all the motions had to be looped at the end, so that the Efteling team could prolong a scene for as long as necessary.

Overlay:
This project was delivered as multiple lose animations that were used with a transparent background (MOV)

Finalising the project:
This project when only needed a few feedback round to finetune the last wishes of the customer.
